A POPULAR village pub has announced with 'heavy hearts' that it is set to permanently close.

The Queen Inn, located on The Green, Great Corby announced via social media that it will close its doors for the final time on Sunday, June 30.

The pub, which sits on land owned by Corby Castle Estate, has been leased by business partners David and Roweena Corkill since 2019. However, with this lease up for renewal at the end of 2024, the decision was made to not continue the business.

When explaining the impending closure, the village pub cited 'the relentless pressures and challenges of the hospitality industry' as the main factor.

In a statement they said: "It is with heavy hearts and deep regret that we announce the closure of The Queen Inn at Great Corby.

"After many years of serving our cherished community, the relentless pressures and challenges of the hospitality industry have finally taken their toll, making it impossible for us to continue operations.

"We sincerely hope that The Queen Inn continues in some form, as village pubs are truly the lifeblood of their communities.

"They provide a gathering place, a sense of belonging, and a space for creating cherished memories. It is our heartfelt wish that Great Corby retains this vital hub for many years to come."

The pub management team also extended its heartfelt thanks to its customers and staff who have supported it over the years.

They said: "We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful people who visited us from the village and beyond over the years. Your support and patronage meant the world to us.

"A special thank you also to our incredible staff who poured their hearts into making The Queen Inn a warm and welcoming place.

"We couldn't have done it without you."

In the weeks leading up until The Queen Inn's final orders, it will still be serving drinks daily from 3pm.

The Queen Inn also confirmed that upon the expiration of this lease, the pub will become available to prospective new landlords.
