Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called out to assist an elderly man who was injured by a heavy gate in the Lake District. 

On May 29 at 12.15, 12 members of the Keswick MRT travelled to Borrowdale to assist a 75-year-old who was knocked over by a heavy gate half way up Jenkin Hill.

The heavy gate half way up Jenkin Hill closed quickly with a gust of the wind and knocked the man to the ground. Unable to weight bear to continue his descent he called for assistance.

On arrival the team assessed the man, gave him some strong pain relief and stretchered him down to an awaiting ambulance for onward transfer to hospital.

The rescue took two hours and 15 minutes to complete.
