A Carlisle pre-school nursery has been awarded a new 'good' Ofsted rating following an inspection.

The Manor Pre-School Nursery, which is located within Morton Community Centre, was awarded the rating following an inspection from the education watchdog on Monday, April 29.

The inspection found that 'this nursery places children's safety, care and learning at the centre' and explained how 'the close partnerships established with parents, as well as the effective key-person system, mean that children's needs are well-known and understood.'

However, the report did recommend improvements to performance management and professional development.

Adele Carter has been Morton Community Centre's centre manager since November 2023 and was on hand to express her delight at the latest rating.

She said: "I am so proud. It is amazing.

"We have been working hard to ensure that the standards are kept high and ensuring that the children are receiving the best education and support in the pre-school nursery.

"We are very open to Special Education Needs (SEN) children and we have also become very diverse and have children who speak different languages that we are also supporting.

"We are focused on creating a lovely environment and our staff team is wonderful.

"Rachel Baron is the nursery manager and she is delighted and I am delighted for Rachel as well."

Adele also discussed how the rating is a product of the relationship that the pre-school nursery has carefully cultivated with the local community.

She said: "A lot of hard work has gone into this but that does not stop here and we will make sure we work hard to keep up the standards.

"We also have a great relationship with our parents and because we have been doing what we have been doing for so long we have seen parents and their children and their grandchildren come through.

"It is endearing to see the trust and familiarity that you get from being part of the local community."
