CUMBERLAND council have issued a statement following the closure of a popular West Cumbrian charity.
The council have said they working with local organisations and partners to 'reduce the impact' of the closure of Age UK West Cumbria, following the news that the charity would cease trading today, May 31.
In a statement on social media, Cumberland council said: "We have been made aware that Age UK West Cumbria will be closing all operations today, Friday 31 May.
"Age UK Carlisle and Eden, Age UK South Lakeland and Age UK Barrow & District are all independent organisations and will not be impacted by the current situation.
"We are working with local organisations and partners to reduce the impact of this closure on our residents.
