NOMINATIONS are now open for the News & Star's brand new 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' award.

In a bid to celebrate local hairdressers and barbers in North and West Cumbria, the News & Star has launched its new competition which will crown the county's 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024'. 

As part of the competition, News & Star readers can now nominate their favourite hairdresser or barber from North and West Cumbria via an online voting platform.

Online nominations will run between Monday, June 10, and Sunday, June 16, with the ten finalists being revealed on Monday, June 24. 

Readers will then be able to vote for their 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' by picking up editions of the News & Star between Monday, June 24, and Saturday, July 6, with the winner set to be announced on Monday, July 15.

Speaking after the online nominations for the News & Star's 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' opened, Joy Yates, regional editor for Newsquest Cumbria asked readers to support their favourite hairdresser or barber.

She said: "Most people have their favourite hairdresser or barber - many will have been going to the same stylist for years and years.

"Friendships are often formed and a visit can be so much more than a haircut and offers time for a catch-up and a cuppa.
