THE deputy leader of the Labour Party has been challenged by a pro-Palestine protestor, a video shows.
The protestor, who is a member of the Palestinian Solidarity Group, can be seen holding a Palestine flag among the crowd of people who turned up to see Angela Rayner today.
He told her: “I’ve been a Labour Party member all my life and I’m absolutely ashamed by the way that Keir Starmer dealt with this problem. He’s got blood on his hands.”
Another person can be heard saying: “I’m a party member and I want children looked after in my community.”
Ms Rayner and Emily Thornberry were visiting Harraby with the Labour battle bus while campaigning for Julie Minns, the Labour candidate for Carlisle.
The Labour Party has seen criticism over its approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict, particularly following a radio interview with party leader Sir Keir Starmer late last year where he appeared to suggest that the Israeli government had a right to withhold water and power from citizens in Gaza.
In November, Sir Keir saw a major rebellion after several high-profile Labour members backed a ceasefire.
Shadow foreign secretary David Lammy recently insisted that Labour has been 'calling for a ceasefire for months' in the conflict.
