IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at retirements in Cumbria throughout the years.

The last school pictures show Irene Maughan, who retired in the summer of 1989 from her post as a teacher at Pennine Way Infants School, Carlisle after 21 years, and Mr Liverick who retired from Cummersdale School in 1972

One pictures shows retired employees from High Duty Alloys retired who decided to host a reunion as a get together for old work colleagues.

Some more long service retirements are pictured with Joseph Nicholson of Crake Garth, Dalston, who retired from Carlisle’s Roadline depot after 34 years as a checker-loader. As well as, Miss Anna Cavers, Travalgar Street, Carlisle, who was retiring after almost 50 years’ service in 1971
