WORKINGTON musician Logan Paul Murphy has appeared on Channel 4 show, The Piano.
Logan, 18, who is inspired by The Beatles and 60s music, applied for the show after watching series one.
"I was absolutely blown away when I found out that I was going to feature on the show and especially because it was the Liverpool episode," he said.
Recalling his first exposure to 60s pop music, he said his father owns a motorbike shop in Seaton and Logan started to travel in the van with him at 8 years old.
After picking out a Beatles CD and asking what is was, he put it on and was hooked.
At 12, Logan started guitar lessons and often played Beatles songs. Logan said: "I asked my parents to take me busking on the streets of Liverpool, the home of the Beatles.
"Whilst busking, the management of Cavern Club saw me and put me on the main stage. I'm the youngest person ever to play a full set on the main stage at 13 years old."
Whilst there, Logan saw an artist playing the piano. Inspired, he saved his busking money and bought his own piano. During lockdown, he taught himself to play and it is now his instrument of choice.
Logan spoke about his Channel 4 appearance. He said: "The Piano was a massive thing for me. I really enjoyed the whole experience.
"I met lots of lovely people including the host Claudia Winkleman, Lang Lang and Mika. They were really nice and the show really looked after us.
"I played Piano Man by Billy Joel, so that meant playing the piano along with the harmonica and singing. It went really well and the crowds in Lime Street Station loved it!
"I was amazed when Lang Lang and Mika joined me at the piano for the final line of the song. I managed to hold it together (just) and finish the song.
"Technically, I can say I've done a piano duet with the best pianist in the world and an international pop star!"
Logan was not chosen for the final concert in Manchester but attended the show. Logan said: "Being on the show has been a great experience and I've had hundreds of positive comments on my social media."
His original debut album "Yet To Fly" is out now on all streaming platforms and he is touring his Elton John Songbook Live show. Logan will be performing at The Theatre Royal in Workington on September 5 and 6.
Tickets are on sale now from the Theatre Royal website.
