A staff member at a Carlisle service station is celebrating 40 years in her role.

Agnes Robertson has been working at The Moss MWSA Connect BP service station since 1984 when she was 16, and to celebrate the milestone she was joined by a number of her BP colleagues who decorated the southbound services in her honour.

During her time at The Moss, Agnes has been visited by famous faces such as former Liverpool captain and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and helped raise thousands of pounds for charity, including £2,100, which was matched by BP, in the last year alone.

At the surprise event on Friday, June 7, Agnes was 'overwhelmed' by the celebrations.

She said: "It's overwhelming this today

"I did not expect this today and it has been great.

"It's been so fun and it is great to see other people smiling and get the lovely comments and it is just nice to know that you are appreciated.

"I have even had a few customers this week wish me well ahead of the milestone and others said I deserve a medal for being here for 40 years. It is all I have really known.

"BP are a good company to work for, they do so much for their staff.

As part of the celebrations, Agnes handed out a goodie-filled hamper to her 40th customer on the anniversary of her 40th year at The Moss, with the lucky recipient, Mervyn McMath from Eastriggs receiving the prize.

Mervyn, a regular customer at The Moss simply said 'it has been a very worthwhile trip' but was also pleased after becoming acquainted with Agnes over the years.

Also present at the celebratory event was The Moss store manager Stewart Blake who commended Agnes for always going 'above and beyond'.

He said: "I am really chuffed for her.

"She is a fantastic member of staff, she is dedicated, she will always try her best, and will always go above an beyond with every task that she does.

"You can always rely on and she is an amazing member of the team."
