Lanercost is set to host a new summer festival at the end of this month.

The Echo Festival is a community led music festival with a wide range of local talent featured on its line-up.

Among those set to take to the stage is soprano jazz singer Ophelia Appleby, Ros Sluman's Big Shoe Band, The Kirkby Jazz Collective, Ben Draper, and pupils from Lanercost Primary School.

It will be held at Lanercost Priory and Dacre Hall from 2-11pm on 22 June.

Echo Events, which is behind the festival, is a community interest company that was formed by local with the aim of boosting the local arts offering.

A ticket for the full day is £20 although festival go-ers can also choose to only attend certain parts of the day.

Echo Events is already planning next year's festival which they hope will feature visual artists along side the musical offering.
