A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
Two suspected caravans were also seized along with a vehicle suspected of having been used in crime.
In a post on social media, Cumbria Police wrote: "Our officers were in Melmerby this morning as part of further inquiries into suspected stolen vehicles.
"The officers in attendance took enforcement action, seizing two suspected caravans and one vehicle suspected of having been used in crime.
"In addition, we arrested a man in his 20s from Newcastle on suspicion of handling stolen goods. He remains in police custody this evening.
"This morning’s efforts took a considerable amount of resources and time so thank you to those in the vicinity for your patience whilst our officers carried out their work.
"We will continue to take enforcement action wherever we suspect criminality has occurred – whether it is here in Cumbria or elsewhere."
