THREE people have been taken to hospital following an alleged stabbing incident in Carlisle.
Police said they were called out at 8.06am this morning (June 10) to reports of a male with stab wounds in Whernside.
On arrival, officers also located a woman in her 50s and a child with injuries. The woman and the girl were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with 'serious injuries'.
A man, also in his 50s, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary with a stab wound and is described as 'stable'.
UPDATE: Two arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after incident
Cumbria Police said there is 'no wider threat to the public' and officers are asking member of the public to avoid the area whilst officers conduct their investigations.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called out shortly after 8am on Monday, June 10 to 'reports of an assault' near Queensway and arrived at the scene at 8.31am.
A spokesperson said they transported a patient to hospital shortly after 9am, with the condition of the patient undisclosed.
