FIVE men were arrested during the Appleby Horse Fair following an alleged assault which has left a 16-year-old in hospital.
On June 9, the 16-year-old male was found with a significant arm injury in a residential field at Appleby.
The cause is unknown but police suspect an assault may be at the root of the injury.
The five men were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
They have since been released on police bail, unable to enter the county except to answer bail.
The injured teenager remains in hospital but is in stable condition.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "At this time we do not believe the incident has involved a knife or any other type of bladed article.
"Officers are appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
