THE former home of The Cumberland News is set to go under the hammer.
The iconic Newspaper House, on Carlisle's Dalston Road, is set to sell at auction with bidding starting from £700,000.
The two-floor property boasts a generous floor area of 23,500 square feet alongside potential development opportunities.
Sitting on a plot of 3.09 acres, the location also offers more than 200 parking spaces.
The iconic building, which used to house the printing press and despatch areas, saw millions of newspaper editions come off the presses until 2018.
The printing of publications was moved to Newsquest’s state-of-the-art print centre in Cambuslang, Glasgow.
Both the News & Star/The Cumberland News offices and digital advertising agency for LOCALiQ were relocated to an adjacent building on the grounds, The White House.
Bidding for the Newspaper House opens on Tuesday, June 18 at 10am, and closes on Wednesday, June 19.
The commercial property is being listed by Pugh Auctions.
