IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at memories from the Race for Life in Carlisle throughout the years.

Race for Life is a Cancer Research UK fundraiser event, races take place across the UK including Carlisle and thousands gather to raise money for the cause.

Race for Life started 28 years ago as a women-only event. The first event was held in Battersea, in 1994.  In 2019, for the first time, the Race for Life opened its doors to men to participate too.

The Carlisle event has taken place in Bitts Park and the Sheepmount over the years. Notably in 2016, 1,750 people raised over £200k in the Carlisle race making it one of the best years of the race. The popularity of the event only continues to grow.
