SMILING faces, singalongs and standing ovations were the reward for a local amateur group following their latest stunning performance at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington this week.

Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatics Society (AODS) Juniors made the whole audience feel as if they 'were welcome' as they brought an adaptation of hit Disney film Moana to the Carnegie yesterday evening, June 12, with a dazzling performance filled with life, love and laughter.

The story follows a young girl Moana, who sets out on a quest to save her people of Motuni.

The brave youngster goes against her parents' wishes to set out on an epic voyage in the hopes of returning the heart of Te Fiti to its goddess owner, convincing its thief Maui to help her on her epic voyage.

Joint presidents of MAODS, Maureen Dixon and Maureen Slack said: "Moana Jr is a coming of age story with messages of bravery and selflessness.

"We are sure by the time you leave the theatre you will be embracing your inner hero and all we can say is... 'You're welcome'."

The whole production was a joy from start to finish, with the talented youngsters bringing passion and energy to the stage.

The Disney classics 'You're Welcome' and 'How Far I'll Go' were a treat and as much as it was a delight to watch the performers on stage, it was also lovely to see youngsters in the audience singing and dancing along.

Moana was played by Ruby Pattinson who stunned the audience with her fabulous voice throughout the evening; their delight at her performance was clear to see by the standing ovation Ruby got at the end of the show.

Max McAllister, who played Maui, was as always brilliant, and a special mention must also go to Noah Frost who played Tamatou, having the audience in stitches any time he took to the stage.

As always the whole production was a delight, from glitterballs to boats and even a moving stage, MAODS Juniors pulled it out of the bag once again.

If this is the talent the youth section has currently it looks set to be another successful 110 years for the much-loved amateur group.

The show will run at the Carnegie Theatre, Workington from June, 12- 15 with tickets available here.
