GROUNDWORKS are now underway to prepare a hardstanding for the Blackburn Beverley XB259 at the Solway Aviation Museum.
The RAF Blackburn Beverley XB259, the last of its kind, will be moving to the aviation museum near Carlisle airport after a successful £70,000 fundraiser saved it from potential scrapping.
Museum volunteers will be dismantling, transporting, and reassembling the 162ft wingspan plane on the museum's grounds.
Museum chairman Dougie Kerr and a team of volunteers are currently at Hull's Fort Paull dismantling the historic aircraft.
The first parts of the Beverley have already arrived at the museum waiting to be pieced together.
The fundraising campaign is still ongoing for anyone who wishes to support the project and contribute to preserving a piece of aviation history.
