Laidlaw Auctioneers and Valuers have announced their upcoming two-day sale.
Following an exciting May auction that featured an extensive jewellery and militaria collection, the auction house is looking forward to presenting a series of distinctive items in their forthcoming catalogue.
Included in the unusual lots on offer is an English Civil War armour featuring a "lobster-tailed pott" helmet and accompanying breast and back plates.
The striking armour is emblematic of Oliver Cromwell’s Roundheads from the New Model Army.
The helmet is estimated to sell between £1,000 and £2,000.
Other lots of note include a collection of Zulu weaponry, hailing from Southern Africa.
The Zulu people are famed for their courage and military skill, led by Shaka’s effective tactics and strategic organisation.
Laidlaw Auctioneers and Valuers will showcase a Zulu isihlangu shield, isijula spears, a knobkerrie club iwisa and a relic tin shield bearing the engraving "Taken From Rorke's Drift, Zululand, by Mr Dunbar, 2/24th 1879".
These items are historic relics from the intense Anglo-Zulu Wars, which are prominently featured in the 1964 film Zulu.
In a distinct shift, the sale will also feature an item of high-fashion: a 1972 Hermes Kelly bag, complete with its original box.
Hollywood star Grace Kelly famously adored the iconic bag, and it was renamed in her honour in 1977.
The Kelly bag continues to be a symbol of timeless elegance and sophistication within the fashion world.
Lastly, auction-goers will find a whimsical Victorian enamel and 9-carat gold stick pin.
This gem commemorates 'Pterodactyl', an award-winning dachshund whose popular butterscotch coat influenced the breed's appearance standing today.
The dog's skeleton can still be found in Derby Museums.
The June auction will span over two days, beginning on Friday, June 21 and continuing on Saturday, June 22. The collection will be on public view Thursday, 20 June and on sale days.
Bidding is available both online and in the auction room, and all are encouraged to take part.
