The Sands and Swifts Bank Car Parks are set to close from this weekend for essential improvement works.

Cumberland Council has issued an update for residents and businesses in the area about the commencement of work on the two car parks.

The Swifts Bank car park will be closed from Saturday June 15 for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

During this time, the Sands car park will remain open.

Once work is completed on the Swifts Bank car park, work will then begin on the Sands car park.

Cumberland Council anticipates that this car park will be closed for approximately eight weeks, weather permitting. However, the public can use the Swifts Bank car park during this time.

Improvement works will include resurfacing both car parks as well as the junction of Newmarket Road and Newark Terrace, enhancements to the lighting, drainage, and general infrastructure, and a new parking layout with wider, more user-friendly parking bays.
