An investigation is to be launched after a Cumberland Council refuse vehicle caught fire on its rounds.
On Friday, June 14, a Cumberland Council refuse vehicle caught fire in the Warwick Road area of Carlisle.
Emergency services were called to the scene and safely escorted back to the depot where the waste has been tipped and extinguished.
There have been no reports of injuries to staff and Cumberland Council have thanked residents for their ‘understanding and patience’.
A spokesperson for Cumberland Council said: “Please be aware that one of our refuse vehicles in the Warwick Road area of Carlisle, caught fire during its collection round today.

“Emergency services have escorted it back to the depot where the waste has been tipped and extinguished. The vehicle is under observation for the time being.
“An investigation will be conducted next week, and our health and safety officers have been notified. If your refuse collection has been missed, please go to the council's website for updates
“Thank you for your understanding and patience as we address this situation.”
