To help reach its 2024 fundraising target, Cumbria Tourism is holding a series of special fundraising events and activities throughout the year.

Six staff from Cumbria Tourism are currently participating in Cumbria Community Foundation’s six-week Virtual Coast to Coast Corporate Challenge (until the end of June).
They’ve embarked on the epic 171-mile sponsored challenge to individually match the distance of one of the UK’s favourite long- distance walking trails and are clocking up the miles ‘virtually’ by walking, running, swimming and pounding the treadmill – with the aim of covering a total distance of more than 1,000 miles between them in six weeks.
Looking ahead, a special Cross Bay Walk from Arnside to Grange then takes place on Sunday, August 11 and will be led by the royally-appointed King’s Guide to the Sands, Michael Wilson, who will help walkers traverse the ever-changing flats and channels as they take in the bay’s exceptional scenery and wildlife.
Individuals and teams are welcome, alongside friends, family members and dogs. Anyone wanting to take part will pay £15, with the option of raising additional funds by collecting sponsorship money too.
Meanwhile, if you love golf or know someone who does, teams of four can register for Cumbria Tourism’s Golf Day to help the 50th anniversary fundraising efforts. Tee off is at 1pm at Carus Green Golf Club in Kendal on Friday, September 27.
A number of fundraising social events are also being held throughout the summer, with a ‘Big Cumbria’ quiz recently taking place at Hawkshead Brewery.

Look out for details of upcoming Cumbria Tourism quiz nights in West Cumbria and Carlisle as well.
Individual businesses are being encouraged to support the new fund too. Take Farlam Hall, which generously donated the £500 proceeds of a raffle from one of its recent events to the 50th Anniversary Fund.
The fundraising activity is all being supported by sales of Cumbria Tourism’s MyCumbria card, with 10 per cent of all proceeds from the residents’ loyalty card going towards the new fund.
