A SHOP in Whitehaven will be hosting a car show this summer.

Milltech Computers, which is located in the Marketplace, will be hosting the car show on August 31.

The event will run at the same time as Harbour Fest, with hopes of expanding the attractions on the harbour into the town centre.

There will be a range of vintage vehicles for members of the public to come and look at.

Rose Harrison of Milltech Computers has hosted these types of events in the past and is passionate about the area.

Rose hopes that she can get more people into Whitehaven and help to promote the town.

She said: "People will be coming from all different parts of the country. And one person will be coming from Eskdale, they will be bringing a classic American police car, and the gentlemen will be dressed in the uniform of the American police.

"There are going to be quite a few different cars here, it's hoped that this will carry the festivities further into the town as it will be running at the same time as Harbour Fest."

The free festival will take place at the marina and is organised by the Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners and Rosehill Arts Trust.

There will be a variety of entertainment and community stalls on offer.

Rose continued: "We've had a lot of people showing interest in the car show so we're just putting it all together now and trying to get it sorted.

"We've done three shows in the past and they've always been successful. We want to keep people in the town interested and let them know that something is going on.

"I've always been passionate about trying to bring people into Whitehaven. We love the area, and we want to help to keep it going.

"We hope that everyone will enjoy the day and have a good chat with one another."

Back in 2022, Milltech Computers organised a car show for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

This was a great success with crowds turning out to enjoy the attractions and entertainment that were on offer.
