A NUMBER of warning letters have been issued to drivers in Carlisle - as police warn motorists that "I'm just nipping to pick up a birthday balloon" is not a valid excuse for poor parking.
Carlisle police were in the area of Denton Street issuing warning letters to motorists yesterday, June 15, after reports of poor parking in the area.
In a statement on social media, Carlisle police said: "Officers have been made aware by local residents regarding the poor parking along Denton Street, Carlisle.
"Today, officers have been issuing warning letters to motorists in an effort to educate drivers.
"Work is also ongoing with Cumberland Council to arrange an enforcement operation at the location.
"'I'm just nipping to pick up a birthday balloon' is not an excuse for poor parking."
