STAFF and children at a nursery that was targeted by vandals have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the fundraising efforts of the community.
Hundreds of pounds worth of damage was caused to outdoor play equipment at Frizington Nursery and Pre-school in April, which left the children ‘saddened and shocked’.
But the community pulled together to help raise funds for the school and more than £2,000 has now been raised.
The money will be used to replace all of the damaged items and also to create a sensory, woodland area for the children over the summer holidays.
Charlotte Oddie, executive headteacher, said: “We have received lots of messages of support and very generous donations.
“As a school we have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by our local community and beyond after our devastating vandalism in April.
“We have received lots of messages of support and very generous donations that accumulate to over £2,000 to replace equipment and rebuild our outdoor area.
“We are so grateful to the following people who have contributed to the donations: Nora Benn, (Lingla Cafe) Edgars Garage, Peter Corkill, Robert Metcalfe and the Copeland Regeneration Committee, Ian Stephenson (TCL Cumbria), Jacobs, Gareth and Jacqueline Cameron and all the Frizington community who attend Frizington Legion Quiz night.
“On behalf of myself, all the staff, children and parents we wanted to say a very big thank you!”
