An all-day prog rock event featuring the God of Hellfire himself is coming to Cumbria.

Carlisle venue The Brickyard will host Arthur Brown, known for his long musical career, notably his title as the God of Hellfire as he proclaims in the 1968 song ‘Fire’, which was reignited by California-based hip hop group Death Grips in their song 'Lord of the Game'.

Arthur Brown is the hell-raiser who frightened the life out of the establishment in the 1960s.

His 1967 single Devil's Grip paved the way for heavy metal and his burning helmet of fire often ended up cooking his scalp on stage rather than the fuel in its colander.

The Temple of Prog will feature five bands from 2pm on January 24, 2025, including Tim O’Connor and his Cowfish, Spriggan Mist, The Emerald Dawn, Ebb, and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown.
