A popular Cumbrian charity has paid tribute to its former CEO after she was an awarded a MBE on the King's honours list.
Fiona Stobart was instrumental in setting up Hospice at Home, Carlisle and North Lakeland as a pilot project in January 1995 and worked with the organisation until her retirement as CEO in October 2022.
Last week, alongside other heroic Cumbrians, she was awarded an MBE for services to community palliative care on King Charles III's birthday honours list.
Hospice at Home said: "The Board of Trustees, Chief Executive, staff and volunteers at Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Fiona on her being awarded an MBE in the King’s 2024 Birthday Honours.
"Fiona led the charity for 25 years as clinical manager and chief executive officer. Under her leadership many patients have received high quality palliative and end of life care along with support for their families and carers.
"Fiona continues to work tirelessly in a volunteer capacity for several charities and we wish her well for the future."
