PLANS for a farm building to store an anaerobic digestion plant in the Bridekirk area have been approved by planners at Cumberland Council.

The planning application was for a site at Anns Hill, near the A595, and according to the planning officer's report the application site comprises part of an agricultural field within an established farmstead located 0.5 miles to the south of the village of Bridekirk.

The report states: "The farmstead occupies a relatively remote location but is accessible from the A595 which is approximately 200 metres to the south.

"The application site does not have any immediate neighbours with the nearest neighbouring property located over 400 metres to the north west.

"The site is located within Flood Zone 1 and is not subject to any landscape designations. The farmhouse is a grade II listed building."

According to the report the building will measure 24.8 metres in length, 18.8 metres in width and 9.8 metres in height.

The report states that the submitted details demonstrated that the siting, design and external appearance of the building would be appropriate for the site and locality. It adds: "It is therefore considered that prior approval can be given."
