THE monthly harbour sessions and car boot were held in Whitehaven this week.

The free live music shows and car boot sale are organised by the Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners. They take place once every month on a Sunday.

Two local musicians performed on Sunday, June 16, underneath the bandstand on the harbourside.

In a post on social media, the Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners wrote: "We had a great time at this month’s Harbour Sessions! Thank you to our brilliant musicians Birdseed. and Grace Price Music for stopping people in their tracks with their gorgeous voices.

"And did you see our new weather-proofed Hub, upgraded power supply and multi-coloured LED lights in action?

"Most of the work was undertaken by Forth Engineering, a large amount of it in-kind, and a team from NIS donated their time to help clean the Hub before all the new items were installed. Our regular contractor Quality Cleaning has been pitching in to support, too.

"The project was supported by a REPF grant from Cumbria LEP through Cumberland Council. Thank you to everyone involved.

"We’re back with our next car boot sale and Harbour Sessions on Sunday, July 21. Hope to see you there."

The Harbour Commissioners also praised people who came out to sell their goods at a car boot sale.

They continued: "Hats off to our hardy group of car booters who braved the iffy forecast and still turned up for today's car boot sale.

"Thankfully the weather has so far been pretty kind to us. It's a little breezy and chilly but the sun's made an appearance a few times and is helping to warm us all up.

"And of course, we've got Coffee Man here to keep us supplied with hot drinks.

"Plus this month we welcome a newcomer to our 'gang' - Dosa Chaska and their incredibly unusual mobile kitchen. Amazing Indian food and much of it is vegan and gluten-free."
