IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at Longtown Junior School throughout the years.

Longtown Junior School closed on August 31 2002. In September 2002, Longtown Primary School was opened as a result of the merger of the separate Infant and Junior Schools.

Longtown junior school, which was located on Mary Street, Longtown, was to be converted into a day nursery following its closure.

The headteacher was Mr J P Dennison and the school taught students aged 7 to 11.

Pictures show students in 1999 as they prepared  and showed off their millennium capsule which were ready to be put away in time for the Christmas and New Year break.

Other pictures show cycling proficiency awards for students in the school throughout the years.
