NEWSQUEST Cumbria is hosting an unmissable political debate next week providing a platform for Carlisle’s parliamentary candidates to share their visions and plans.
The event on June 25 will feature at least six of the candidates due to contest Carlisle at the General Election on July 4.
Those attending so far are:
John Stevenson - Conservative
Julie Minns - Labour
Brian Wernham - Liberal Democrats
Stephen Ward - Reform UK
Gavin Hawkton - Green
Rachel Hayton - Social Democratic Party
Independent candidates Sean Reed and Thomas Lynestrider have also been approached.
Members of the public can apply to be in the audience and those allocated a place will be contacted with further details. The debate will also be videoed.
With a wide range of perspectives represented, attendees can expect a lively and thought-provoking discussion on the most pressing issues affecting the community.
The debate will be chaired by Newsquest Cumbria regional editor, Joy Yates, and attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the candidates directly by submitting questions in advance for selection, to avoid duplication.
This political debate is an opportunity for the people of Carlisle to hear from the candidates vying for their votes in the upcoming election. It is a chance to assess policies, enabling voters to make informed decisions about who they believe will best represent their interests and work towards a brighter future.
Newsquest Cumbria titles the News & Star, The Cumberland News and in-Cumbria business magazine, has partnered with Carlisle-based, Armstrong Watson, leading accountants, business and financial advisers as a collaboration to host the debate.
