IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at St Aidan's School in Carlisle throughout the years.

The school was one of Carlisle’s first comprehensive schools. St Aidan’s School was formed in 1970 after the closure of the Carlisle & County High School for Girls. It was a mixed comprehensive school based on Victoria Place in Carlisle.

Then in September 2008 St Aidan’s and and the North Cumbria Technology College (formerly Harraby School) merged to form Richard Rose Central Academy.

The new school was subsequently rebuilt on the former St Aidan’s site in 2010, costing £31m. The academy was first sponsored by Eddie Stobart owner Andrew Tinkler and local businessman Brian Scowcroft.

This collection of photos show students up to different things in school such as when xx-Carlisle United player John Halpin visited them.
