Cumbria Police has received increasing reports of shoplifting by school children in Eden.

Local PCSOs and officers are working with businesses to prevent the issue from becoming more widespread in the area.

They are also working closely with schools to identify and deal with those involved.

Two people have been detained and received out of court disposals in the form of a community resolution.

Cumbria Police wrote in their recent local update newsletter: "Staff will be patrolling local stores.

"Penrith is also connected by a shop watch radio scheme where shops can directly report incidents to local officers."

The police is also working with The Well Communities to reduce anti-social behaviour in Penrith town centre.

The Well Communities have received funding to assist the police with this.

Case workers with lived experiences have been engaging with young people to keep them out of trouble.

Day to day foot patrols continue to take place in Penrith to reduce crime and disorder.
