The barbers, which is located on Longtown's Swan Street, is owned by Tanya Walsh who opened the barbers which bears her name in 2017.

After being informed that The Barbers Tanya Walsh has been nominated as a finalist in the News & Star's 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' award, Tanya was on hand to express his delight.

She said: "I am very happy to have been nominated.

I saw that a customer had tagged us in the News & Star's Best Barber post so I gave it a share and I'd like to thank everyone who has shown their support and helped us be nominated for this award

"It means a lot.

Tanya also discussed what she believes has made her business so popular in the local area, with her citing the Barbers' 'relaxed' atmosphere and ability to brighten up customer's days with their friendly banter.

She said: "I think customers like that we have a relaxed, spacious, and comfy waiting area with self-service tea or coffee available.

"We are a no-appointment service and we are always back to back with customers so it's nice to see them come in knowing they have a little wait ahead but they have a good chat with others while waiting and most of the time someone knows someone.

"We have a good variety of customers from the elderly to the young. I feel we are not just somewhere to get a haircut, people like to come in for a crack and see others and for some, this brightens up their day which we love to see."
