WE'RE highlighting the shortlisted hairdressers and barbers in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over the following issues.

Craft Hair & Beauty has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' award.

The salon, which is located on Carlisle's Bank Street, is owned by Faye Irwin who opened Craft Hair & Beauty in 2014, with the business celebrating its 10th anniversary at the beginning of June.

After being informed that Craft Hair & Beauty has been nominated as a finalist in the News & Star's 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' award, Faye was on hand to express his delight.

She said: "We’re excited and extremely grateful for the support from our lovely clients to be nominated.

"Many of our clients and their families are now friends, they have supported us for so long, and we’ve been there through so many occasions together it is nice to be a part of them.

"All of the salons in Carlisle deserve recognition as they have all given incredible support to each other over the years."

Faye also explained how Craft Hair & Beauty has a geographically diverse clientele and put this down to the salon's friendly atmosphere.

She said: "With us being a city centre salon we bring people in from all over the place, we’re accessible by train too so we have many lovely customers from within Carlisle but we also have lots from areas surrounding such as Langham, Annan, and Penrith.

"It’s lovely as more often than not people come through someone else recommending us to them.

"Many times a lot of our customers know each other when they come in to get their hair done and I think they like the friendly feel the salon has.

"We always have a good giggle together."
