A DRUG-DRIVER who was more than twice the cannabis limit has been banned from the roads for three years.

Grant Wilson, 32, had been driving a Volkswagen Golf on the A596 in Maryport when the offence took place on January 3.

A sample of blood taken at the police station showed Wilson had 4.8mcg of cannabis product Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The specified limit is 2mcg.

Wilson, of Alne Road, Maryport, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

Magistrates sitting in Workington imposed a 36-month disqualification and fined Wilson £500. The defendant must also pay £85 costs and a £200 victim surcharge.
