A TOTAL of 14 ground mounted solar panels could be placed in the Brampton area if the plans are approved by planners at Cumberland Council.
The planning application is for a site next to The Lodge, in The Woodlands in Hayton and, according to a planning statement, they would consist of two rows of seven panels.
It is proposed that the installation would cover an area of 20.95 square metres and the report states: "This is a very small-scale project designed to support the house."
According to the report the panels will be in the corner of a paddock and sit behind the wall against the roadside.
It states: "The site is clear and does not have any environmental features or habitats due to it being bare land with no viable ecological features on it. The panels are a course of renewable energy which is currently being strongly encouraged nationally and locally."
According to the report the site is not in a radon area and it is not within a flood plain and has no risk of flooding.
The application is currently being considered by planning officers in the council's planning department.
