WE'RE highlighting the shortlisted hairdressers and barbers in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over the following issues.

Lisa B Hair & Beauty has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' award.

The hair and beauty salon, which is located on Carlisle's Port Road is owned by Lisa Barlow who opened her business in 2017, with its seventh anniversary set to be celebrated in July.

After being informed that Lisa B Hair & Beauty has been nominated as a finalist in the News & Star's 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024' award, Lisa was on hand to express his delight. 

She said: "I am over the moon and it absolutely warms my heart.

"The fact that they think that much of me and they have gone to the effort of nominating me is amazing."

"I am so grateful, I couldn't run the business without the support I get from my clientele."

Lisa also discussed what it is she belives has made her hair and beauty salon so popular in the local area. 

She said: "We are a little bit of a community, to be honest, that might sound silly but the clients all start to recognise each other, and even if there is a new client when they come in they always say about how homely it feels.

"I always try and make people who come in here feel comfortable ."

In addition, Lisa detailed her close bond with her clientele and how she loves seeing their lives 'blossom'.

She said: "I love seeing everyone and you get to see their lives. Some of my clients have been coming to see me from when they were eight years old and now they are in their 20s.

"You get to see what they are going through or they come to me single and then they meet somebody and you get to see the relationship blossom and see them get married and have children.

"It's just nice and you feel part of their life."
