A Carlisle school organised a careers fair for its year six pupils who are preparing to leave for secondary school.
On Friday, June 14, Upperby Primary School held its’ annual careers fair welcoming exhibitors from a range of jobs, industries and workplaces including Cumbria police, a farmer, Tullie House, various building societies, a family therapist, an A&E doctor, NHS staff and an actress.
Pupils rotated between each stand asking sensible and searching questions about what each job entailed.
Headteacher of Upperby Primary School said that the event created a ‘real buzz’ amongst pupils and exhibitors.
“The fair was a huge success,” said headteacher, Paula Burns.
“The variety of exhibitors ensured that every child could find something that captured their interest, which created a real buzz amongst pupils and exhibitors alike.
“The morning allowed pupils to gain a broader understanding of some of the career opportunities available to them.

“Evidence shows that children start to form ideas about their future as they start primary school, and it is crucial that we help inspire them in doing so.
“We would like to share our thanks with all of the companies and professionals who attended.”
