The popularity of four-legged visitors to two Lake District attractions has prompted some extra-special doggy upgrades.
Both Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway have introduced the new 12-month Rover passes specifically for dogs, with 10% of the cost going directly to animal charities.
For the railway, that’s The Dog’s Trust and for Ullswater ‘Steamers’ that will be Eden Valley Animal Rescue and the Oak Tree Animal Sanctuary in Wetheral.
As well as a year’s worth of train or boat rides which link some of the county’s most spectacular walking routes, each furry friend will receive a stylish bandana on their first visit to their chosen attraction.
A special addition at Ullswater ‘Steamers’ in Glenridding is a new ‘dog station’; a pawfect pitstop with plenty of tennis balls to borrow.
Head of marketing and business development at Lake District Estates, Rachel Bell, said: "It’s no secret that we are massive dog lovers and we know many of our passengers feel the same way too, so we always want to go the extra mile to make sure dogs and their owners feel welcome."
Tickets are available for £20 for a full year on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and Ullswater Steamers websites.
