Churches across Carlisle gathered for a public Prayer Vigil to mark World Refugee Day on Thursday June 20.
The gathering met to pray for asylum seekers and refugees in the city and across the world.
Rev Iain McIntyre, Vicar of Stanwix Parish said: "Many people in churches across the city have been actively supporting asylum seekers and refugees, working closely with other groups and organisations across Cumbria.
"We have heard so many harrowing stories of ordinary people who have been forced to flee their country and make dangerous journeys to safety.
"By gathering to pray today we hope to highlight the plight of refugees across the world, and those who now live in our city. With so much conflict and persecution across the world people continue to need asylum.
"As Christians we are called to welcome strangers with hospitality which is why we will continue to help asylum seekers and refugees where we can."
The vigil began at 2pm and lasted for around 30 minutes.
