The managing director of one of Cumbria’s fastest-growing businesses will share his formula for success at Carlisle Youth Zone Business Breakfast.

Nicky Gordon founded Genesis Homes in Penrith in 2017. The business has grown from building 10 homes a year to more than 150 and is on target to double the annual build total to 300 by 2028.

With housing a hot topic in the General Election campaign, Nicky’s insights could not be more timely. He will talk about his journey and the exciting future in store for Genesis Homes.

The free event is on Thursday July 11, from 8am to 10.30am, at Carlisle Youth Zone in Victoria Place, Carlisle.

It is sponsored by business law firm Knights and supported by Intro PR.

Nicky has gained a reputation nationally for his creativity and leadership skills within construction, and business in general.

A talented rugby union player in his youth, who might have been a professional but for injuries, he has applied lessons drawn from sport in his business career notably around resilience, teamwork, focus and adaptability.

Known amongst his peers for his tenacious attitude to ‘getting stuff done’, Nicky is never shy to offer an industry or county-wide opinion.

He is passionate about recognising the important influence that housing has on society and wellbeing, and is known for expressing his concerns about the current housing provision and its impact on the county.

Genesis Homes has a vision to “lead the way in the creation of quality, vibrant and welcoming housing developments” and has received plaudits from homeowners, local authority leaders and industry professionals for its high quality of build.

The company has completed developments in Frizington, Hackthorpe, Burgh-by-Sands, Brigham, Wigton, Armathwaite and Cumwhinton, and is currently developing homes throughout Cumbria in Lazonby, Calthwaite, Penrith, Stainburn, Kendal, and in Halton in north Lancashire.

Future projects include Edward’s View at Burgh-by-Sands, The Woodlands and Sandsfield Way in Carlisle, Eden Gardens at Etterby, Derwent Rise in Seaton and Lunesdale Rise at Kirkby Lonsdale.
