A legendary psychobilly band known for their crazy on-stage antics will headline later this year.
King Kurt will play The Brickyard on December 6, bringing their psychobilly sounds to the stage.
Formed in 1981, the original lineup featured frontman Gary "The Smeg" Clayton, guitarist Thwack, bassist Bert Boustead, drummer Rory Lyons, and saxophonist John Reddington, later replaced by "Mad" Andy B.
Their debut album, Ooh Wallah Wallah, released in 1983, became an instant hit, and they soon became known for their live shows, characterised by outrageous costumes anda party atmosphere which often included food fights.
Their most successful single, ‘Destination Zululand’, released in 1983, remains a fan favourite, and their subsequent albums, including Big Cock (1986) and The Last Will and Testament of King Kurt (1988), solidified their place in the UK punk scene.
The band originally split in 1988 but audience demand had them return for more to deliver their madness since 2012.
A band that if you’ve seen before you’ll want to see again, and if you haven’t, your chance is now.
