Mountain rescuers recently did a training exercise, practising techniques used to save lives on the fells.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team (PMRT) said their training, on Wednesday, June 19, involved practising their technique when lowering a stretcher down steep ground.
In the scenario, two casualties sustained suspected spinal injuries high up on Hallin Fell.
Explaining the training, a PMRT spokesperson said: “This required familiarising ourselves with and using the team's new vacuum mattresses.
“Once the air is evacuated from these a casualty is immobilised, protecting their C-spine.”
They thanked the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team for allowing PMRT to train on their patch.
