IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at Harraby Secondary School throughout the years.
The school was established as a concept and built to accommodate the families who lived in the new estate built after the Second World War. Harraby Secondary School opened in 1956 to serve the new estate.
By 1958, more than 2,000 council houses had been built on the New Harraby Residential Estate.
The school was renamed the North Cumbria Technology College in the 1990s and subsequently merged with St Aidan’s School to form the Richard Rose Central Academy in 2008.
Initially based on the Harraby site, it moved to a new building in the city centre in 2011.
In this collection of photos, we can see pupils doing a whole host of activities from sports competitions to choir practice, prize winners and students leaving school.
