A man has been arrested after a reported assault in a Cumbrian town.
Cumbria police’s Copeland team said they received a 999 call about an assault on New Street, Whitehaven, last night (June 23).
They said they arrived on the scene within three minutes and arrested a 33-year-old man who was nearby.
He remains in police custody.
A spokesperson from Cumbria police said: “We take incidents of this nature seriously and encourage anyone witnessing violence or anti-social behaviour to contact us immediately.”
