Wildfire crews from a Cumbrian fire station were out yesterday (June 23) after a campfire 'got out of hand'.

A spokesperson from Ambleside Fire Station said their crew members, with firefighters from Keswick, were out in the early hours of the day dealing with a fire on a cliff below Surprise View.

The spokesperson added: "Be responsible, (and) don't have any fires when camping."

A spokesperson from the National Trust - North and West Lake District said: "Thanks to Keswick Fire Station and Ambleside Fire Station for effectively responding to a wildfire in the Borrowdale Valley over the weekend."

They added: "Please do not light fires or barbeques as they can be devastating to wildlife and habitats.

"Respect this special place and leave no trace."
