PLANS for retrospective planning permission for a new office at a Carlisle tennis club have been approved by a Cumberland Council planning officer.

The application was for an outbuilding, at Chatsworth Lawn Tennis Club in St Aidan’s Road.

According to the decision notice, which was issued on Monday (June 24), planning permission was granted subject to conditions.

A planning officer's report states: "The proposal is seeking retrospective planning permission for an outbuilding for use as an office by Cumbria Tennis.

"The building is located on some paving slabs that lie between the car park and the outside tennis courts and to the north-west of the main tennis club building, which contains indoor tennis courts, offices and a cafe.

"The building is small in scale and the proposed materials are considered to be acceptable. In light of the above, the siting, scale and design of the building are considered to be acceptable. "

The report states that the building is small in scale and it was not considered that the proposal would increase the flood risk to the site or to nearby buildings.

According to a planning statement the unit was specially designed and built to meet Chatsworth tennis club needs.
