CARLISLE is about to welcome the launch of its first city-centre brewery since 1987.

West Walls Brewing Co. will officially open its doors to the public this Saturday (June, 29) from 2pm.

After a year of hard graft, Fergus Campbell and Joe Harrison have been renovating the former Twisted Wheel site on Carlisle's West Walls.

"It's been a real learning experience taking on a project this size but we are so pleased to finally be at the finishing line," Joe said.

"We are both really proud of the space we have created and can't wait for people to see it and try our beers."

Teasing its new core beer line-up, West Walls Brewing Co. will be offering five keg beers and one cask brew.

The range includes 'The Hop', a session IPA characterised as being hoppy and crisp; 'Gold Fool', a refreshing blonde ale; 'Too Easy', a German-style Helles Lager; 'Yellow Mellow', a German-style pilsner, and 'Nitro Man', a creamy stout.

The cask beer being revealed is an American pale ale, part of the brewery's experimental series.

In addition, punters will have 12 additional keg beers and four casks to choose from featuring breweries located in Cumbria and southern Scotland.

Aside from a great selection of tipples, pizza slices made with local ingredients will also be up for grabs.

Customers can enjoy anything from a classic margherita to gourmet garlic wild mushroom and truffle, or indulge in a spicy Cumbrian salami with hot honey.

Slices will range between £2.50 and £4.00, making them the perfect pairing with a pint.

The founders aim to provide an inviting, rustic, and warm environment for all guests.

The brewery's layout intends to facilitate the perfect space for both large and small groups, with the brewing equipment on public display and the team on hand for anyone fascinated by the process.

"We are extremely excited to share this space with the people of Carlisle after spending the best part of a year on the project," Fergus said.

"We have been working hard on the beers behind the scenes and are ecstatic to finally be able to let people come in and try them."

West Walls Brewing Co. will be open from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday and 2pm to 8pm on Sunday for the opening weekend.

Full opening times will be announced on their social media channels next week.
