A Carlisle primary school has enjoyed its 'wonderful' summer Sports Day.
Newlaithes Junior School hosted its annual Sports Day on Thursday, June 27, with students, parents, and staff coming together for the community event.
The school's sports field was dotted with various stations, including the sock throw, long jump, football dribble, netball shoot, and javelin, ensuring there was something for all students.
The traditional egg and spoon races also took centre stage at the event, with the Sports Day concluding with the school's House Trophy being presented to the winners before the pupils enjoyed an ice pop in the sun.
After the event, headteacher Richard Clark was on hand to express his delight with its success.
He said: "Sports Day is about much more than just races and prizes.
"It's about coming together as a school community and making lasting memories.
"The highlight of the afternoon was the whole school relay races."
Pupils from all year groups formed mixed teams, showcasing their speed and coordination as they passed the baton in seamless transitions.
"The relay races were a true testament to the school's emphasis on teamwork, with each student contributing to their team’s efforts amid loud cheers from their classmates and parents," he added.
Mr Clark also thanked the pupil's parents for getting involved with the school's annual Sports Day, in his words, another display of the school's tight-knit community.
He said: "Supportive parents lined the sidelines, offering encouragement.
"The presence of parents not only added to the excitement but also strengthened the sense of community at Newlaithes Junior School.
"Some parents even joined in for parent races, much to the delight of the cheering children."
Following the event, one parent thanked the school for putting on the event.
"It's wonderful to see our children so happy and active," they said.
"The school has done an incredible job organising this event. We’re all looking forward to next year."
