Carlisle's Devonshire Street facelift is on track for a summer launch, Cumberland Council has announced.

The revamp, which aims to breathe new life into the area, is making significant progress with this week seeing grouting completed, installation of stone sets, and the fitting of new signal heads.

Additional granite kerbs have also been put in place.

Workers have begun setting the south-side loading bay, while the paving on the northern side nears completion.

Previously, in June 2024, decorative features were added along the street.

Despite the works, the council has asked the public to 'please remember that businesses on Devonshire Street are open as usual'.

This includes businesses such as the Thin White Duke, Scott Duff & Co, Connelley’s Wine and Cocktail Bar, Le Gall, Eaten by Monsters, Sweet Tooth, Nationwide Building Society, Santander, Greggs, Black Box Architects, Paradiso, John Taylor, This Time, The Temple Art Collective and Pizza Express.

Businesses in Friars Court are also still open for business, these include Print Yard, Beauty @ Solo and Hair Works.
